These two create competing mythologies like Norse gods and like, link with Pausanias or Aristophanes? But also an idea of evolution and natural law, Erixymachus.

Ok, this idea of evolution, of progress creates a civilized/uncivilized divide, a classism of society, master-slave division of Hegel, Nietzsche. This develops into chivalric concepts of the good knight, Agathon. Socrates is the reversal of master morality that depends on truth and responsibility, and what Nietzsche calls philosophical hubris. This clashes with Alcibiades hubris of man.okeinoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8466669636390432992.post-59082107566941165262011-08-09T23:05:55.000+01:002011-08-09T23:05:55.000+01:00Thanks for reading, Nancy! Perfectly expressed!

Thanks for taking so much time with this, Okei... well worth it!Nancy Millerhttp://mysticmaze.multiply.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8466669636390432992.post-24351320843460384192011-08-06T19:34:10.000+01:002011-08-06T19:34:10.000+01:00Oh dear Jamintoo,Thank you so much for your words ...Oh dear Jamintoo,

Thank you so much for your words of Wisdom.

Sound counsel, and I shall do what you said. I've given up ...I'm really sorry Catherine. I've given up on following contacts' posts regularly because I'm rarely online and when I'm on a mobile it takes longer to express myself and harder it seems for me to be understood. So I hope I am clear now ;-) The internet, like the book library before it, is full of stuff we might like but will never get round to reading, so of course we must prioritize. And in my opinion we shouldn't necessarily prioritize by what happens to be most recent. But we all do. This review is in the hope to encourage people to read Plato's Symposium one day, then come back and share things they saw which I missed. I actually ran out of steam, so I wrote very little about the second half of the dialogue which is really the most important. I'm hoping one of my contacts either online or offline (because as an exception I shared this with a few people) will continue adding ideas where I left off, but as you say...we are all busy. But I would also prioritize by what we create ourselves, so if you ever feel moved to share yourself if you were at a banquet and were asked to speak in praise of Love, what would you say? And who would you like to quote, not to copy, but to build upon? My past blogs are always open, so these questions are just for when you feel like it... And this blog took me a week to write, so if it took you a week to read, then I've truly done an awful job, lolol :) Seriously, come back in a year's time after reading Plato...my review might even be a better read by then if others help me...okei jamintoohttp://jamintoo.multiply.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8466669636390432992.post-24840060035198983802011-08-05T20:51:24.000+01:002011-08-05T20:51:24.000+01:00I am going to be honest with you, dear Jamintoo.If...I am going to be honest with you, dear Jamintoo.

If I could, I would spend a week on this.
